Jeremiah’s Place is a transitional housing community for the homeless located in Lumpkin County and is part of the non-profit, North Georgia Interfaith Ministries. NGMI exists because of the passion, desire, and commitment to help women, couples, and families with minor children who are homeless, become self-sufficient. They do this by providing safe and secure housing, food, clothing, basic needs, case management, connecting parents and children with community partners and focusing on the well-being of the family as a whole. When a parent knows their child is safe (not living in a tent in the woods or in a car) fed nutritious meals, able to bathe and have clean clothes, and will be connected to educational, socialization, and mental/medical/emotional health programs – they are able to focus on their own challenges and barriers. They are able to look for a sustainable job; secure additional skills and find affordable housing. They are able to become a healthy, supportive family unit for which the children are able to thrive.
Jeremiah’s Place is located on a four-acre campus at 1445 Red Oak Flats Road in Lumpkin County. Jeremiah’s Place has a $165,000 operating budget. Operating and Maintenance funding is from private donations, business sponsorships, and private grants.
